If you are eligible and choose to participate in this study, you will:

  1. Participate in one of three 6-week online skills training programs designed to help you cope with distress (which will include completing exercises on an internet- and mobile-based platform)

    • These trainings are not considered therapy; therefore, it is possible that you may experience no change or worsening of your symptoms

  2. Answer questions sent to your phone and complete questionnaires — for compensation — directly before, directly after, and 3 months following completion of the training

    • Possible risks include temporary feelings of boredom, fatigue, or negative feelings (e.g., anxiety, frustration)

  3. Complete an in-person lab visit (lasting approximately 3 hours) directly before and directly after the training, during which you will wear electrodes (that resemble stickers) on your head and body (to record brain and body activity) while you complete computerized tasks involving emotionally evocative images

    • Possible risks include tenderness/redness, temporary negative feelings, and general discomfort; there is also a minimal risk of electrical shock, which is lower than that associated with using a hairdryer or toaster
