If you are eligible and choose to participate in this study, you will:

  1. Fill out an online pre-screening questionnaire (by clicking on the SCREENING link on this page), which will take approximately 15-20 minutes to complete.

  2. Complete a structured clinical interview (what we will refer to as the ‘screening visit’) via Zoom Healthcare (lasting 1 hour) with a trained member of the research staff; this will help us determine if the treatment we are offering is a good fit for you.

    1. Possible risks include mild discomfort or distress.

  3. Be enrolled as a patient of the Dean Hope Center, located at Teachers College.

  4. Complete 2 online questionnaires during the two weeks before you start treatment (the baseline phase).

  5. Attend 12 once-weekly therapy sessions over Zoom Healthcare (the treatment phase); each session will last 1 hour.

    1. During this time, you will also complete weekly online questionnaires prior to each therapy session (12 in total).

  6. Be encouraged to use a mobile- and online-based platform to complete homework assignments/exercises between therapy sessions.

    1. Difficult emotions may arise while you engage in the therapy sessions and/or complete between-session exercises. We anticipate the severity of this risk or discomfort to be minimal.

  7. Complete 5 online questionnaires during the five weeks following your treatment (the follow-up phase).

    1. Questionnaires in the baseline, treatment, and follow-up phases will take 20 to 30 minutes each to complete; possible risks of completing all online questionnaires in this study include fatigue or boredom.

  8. Complete an exit interview via Zoom Healthcare (lasting 45-60 minutes) with a trained member of the research staff; this will help us better understand your experience in the treatment.
